Pastor Douglas Myrie
Born on March 14th in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, Pastor Douglas Myrie was blessed with loving parents, Byron and Ethlena Myrie, and six siblings. His family played a pivotal role in nurturing his faith and understanding of God’s love from an early age.
Pastor Myrie’s first profound encounter with God occurred at the tender age of 12 while playing church with his siblings. This experience solidified his belief in God’s presence and love. Ephesians 2:10 became a guiding verse for him, reminding him of his purpose in Christ.
Pastor Myrie moved to the United States in his teenage years with his family. At sixteen, he fully committed his life to the Lord and began his journey in ministry. He served as a youth leader at his local church and later as the district youth leader for Northern New Jersey Church of God of Prophecy, where he initiated the “Youth Exchange” program to foster fellowship among the youth.
In 1996, Pastor Myrie married his soulmate, Jessie, and together they have three wonderful children: Bianca, Gabriel, and Lorenzo. He strives to be a living example of faith, hope, and love for his family, inspired by 2 Timothy 1:5 and Joshua 24:15.
Pastor Myrie served as the youth pastor for Grace Pentecostal Tabernacle for 20 years, where he started the “P.A.C.K.” program for inner-city youth in Paterson. In January 2009, he was ordained as a minister, and on June 7, 2015, he became the assistant pastor of Grace Pentecostal Tabernacle. In May 2018, he launched House Of Praise Epicenter (H.O.P.E), where he now serves as the senior pastor.
As a senior pastor, Pastor Myrie is dedicated to shepherding and equipping the congregation, providing sound Biblical teaching, leadership, and direction. He holds a certificate in Evangelism from Grace Hill Bible College, a Leadership certificate from Farleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Counseling from Pillar College. He is also a certified Consentia Group Facilitator and Symbis Facilitator, guiding couples through the pre-marriage journey.
Currently, Pastor Myrie is pursuing a Master of Divinity in Christian Leadership at Andersonville Seminary. His commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ drives his passion for serving this generation through relevant ministries, fostering unity among churches, and enriching marriages and families.
